Poor and Orphan Relief Centre (PAORC) was officially established in the year 2004 by Mr. Sudama Karki. However, the roots of this impactful organization traced back to 2001 with Mr. Karki, who was driven by an innate sense of responsibility and empathy. Then he first unofficially began his mission to help poor and orphan children.
The official establishment of PAORC marked a significant milestone in Karki’s commitment to the cause. PAORC operates as a non-governmental organization (NGO) reflecting its independent and community-driven approach to social welfare. It’s not just an organization, it is a friend and advocate for disadvantaged children in our society. Further services provided include educational support, healthcare provisions and other wellbeing programsfor the development of children. PAORC has become a source of inspiration for those children as well as the community as it also equips them with initial life skill training. This has led PAORC to become a ray of hope and on wavering belief that every child deserves a chance for a brighter future.
The relief center was established with an incident when one of the board members found a child crying at night in frozen cold in Solukhumbhu district during his trip. Then, he brought that child to Kathmandu for education and better future. Immature group of board members registered an organization with uncertain financial incoming. The center has been running with the financial support of Europeans who have personal relations with board members. In order to raise fund to support children in center, the founders also sold calendars in Europe, especially in Germany.
This center is dedicated to supporting its residents through their educational journeys and other necessary materials. Started with one child to till date, 21 children have been reunited with their families before completing secondary education, while 44 children have successfully graduated and moved on to independent living after finishing their secondary schooling. This commitment to both education and family reunification underscores the center's holistic approach to child welfare and its enduring impact on the lives of those it serves.
